The Pixel 10 lineup may not wow with its exterior design, but it compensates with powerful internal features, upgraded, sharper cameras, and advanced next-generation AI—all offered at the same price point as last year's models.
The Pixel 10 lineup, unveiled at Google's Made by Google event, maintains a familiar design aesthetic from last year but introduces subtle refinements and notable advancements, primarily driven by Google's latest Gemini AI features powered by the new Tensor G5 chip. This processor is central to the improvements across the series, enabling smarter AI capabilities.
The lineup includes three models:
- Pixel 10** at $799
- Pixel 10 Pro** at $999
- Pixel 10 Pro XL** at $1,199
The Pro models are quite similar internally, mainly differing in display size and battery life, while the standard Pixel 10 offers slightly scaled-back specs. All are available for preorder now with a release date of August 28. Early impressions indicate that Google is emphasizing AI-driven enhancements, promising smarter photography, voice, and personalization features, all powered by the new G5 chip.
Design: Rehashed, But Refined
The Pixel 10 series sticks closely to the familiar design language of previous models, offering a look that feels quite familiar to longtime Pixel users. However, Google has made subtle refinements to enhance the overall aesthetic and usability. Expect slightly slimmer bezels, smoother curves, and refined materials that give the phones a more polished feel without a major overhaul. These tweaks make the devices look modern and sleek, maintaining the signature Pixel aesthetic while subtly elevating the quality and comfort.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL is a sizable device, measuring 6.41 by 3.02 by 0.33 inches — the same dimensions as the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It also tips the scales at 8.18 ounces, making it roughly 5% heavier than the 7.8-ounce Pixel 9 Pro XL.
In terms of durability, the Pixel 10 series maintains flagship standards with an IP68 rating, ensuring resistance to dust and water. All models feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front, providing enhanced protection against scratches and drops.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL continues the tradition of including a thermometer sensor, positioned just below the camera flash. Button placement remains consistent with previous Pixel models: the power button and volume rocker are located on the right side, with the left side left empty. At the bottom, you'll find two speaker grilles flanking the USB-C port, providing stereo sound.
Notably, the US model omits a physical SIM tray, relying solely on eSIMs, while the international version continues to include a SIM tray. Google has integrated the mmWave 5G radio—necessary for high-speed 5G in the US—into the area where the SIM card resides on international models, which do not support mmWave. This mmWave 5G offers the fastest wireless speeds but is currently limited outside the US. US users can support up to two active eSIMs for flexible network options.
This year, Google has introduced a new magnetic wireless charging feature called Pixelsnap for the Pixel 10 series. Pixelsnap utilizes the Qi2 wireless charging standard, allowing the phones to magnetically attach to compatible chargers—similar to Apple's MagSafe technology. This feature simplifies wireless charging alignment and provides a more secure connection.
This year, Google has refreshed the color palette for the Pixel 10 series. The Pixel 10 is available in four colors: Frost (a light blue), Indigo, Lemongrass (a light green), and Obsidian (black). The Pixel 10 Pro offers four distinct options: Jade (light green), Moonstone (a gray/blue hue), Obsidian (black), and Porcelain (white). Among these, Indigo stands out with its vibrant appearance, while the other colors tend to be more subtle and understated.
